From NAR President Kevin Sears

The Leadership Team and I know that you all have had questions about our association's governance following the January 8 leadership transition. 

 

We have been working with our Parliamentarian and legal team over the course of this week to analyze the NAR constitution, bylaws, and policies to determine the next steps in filling two vacancies on the 2024 Leadership Team. I'm glad to announce that, following this review and a unanimous vote by the Leadership Team yesterday, Sharon Millett and Vince Malta have been appointed as members of the Leadership Team, effective immediately. To be clear, these are not Officer positions; Sharon and Vince have been appointed so that we have a full Leadership Team of seven members. Kevin Brown remains as First Vice President, and the President-Elect position will remain vacant until a replacement is elected, pursuant to our governing documents.

 

Many of you know Sharon and Vince and have firsthand knowledge of their deep commitment to NAR and passion for advocating for our industry. They are well positioned to serve on the Leadership Team during this critical time for our organization given their significant NAR leadership experience, continuous engagement in our governance and advocacy efforts, and impressive careers as real estate professionals. Auburn, Maine-based Sharon has been a REALTOR® since 1979, served as the 1999 NAR President, and has been a member of NAR's Executive Committee and Board of Directors [for a combined 45 years]. Vince is a third-generation REALTOR® and is also the CEO and broker of Malta & Co., Inc. in San Francisco. I'm sure you will all remember that Vince served as the 2020 NAR President, and he has also served on NAR's Board of Directors since 2002. Sharon and Vince will join me and the Leadership Team in our efforts to advance the business of the association by focusing on the legal, business, and advocacy challenges that are top of mind to us all and the clients we live to serve.
